The Geerdegembos in Mechelen-Zuid will undergo a refurbishment in 2027, with an emphasis on play and experience for children and families. An interactive walk is planned for Sunday, October 18th, to gather ideas.

The Geerdegembos, a city and play forest located in Mechelen-Zuid between Jubellaan and Geerdegemstraat, is set for a significant refurbishment in 2027. The focus will be on enhancing natural elements, promoting biodiversity, and creating additional play and experiential opportunities for children and families.
To shape the future design of the forest, children and local residents are invited to contribute their ideas. Areas for play, meeting, and relaxation will be designated. During an interactive walk on Sunday, October 18th, between 4 PM and 6 PM, participants will gather ideas at various stops for walking paths, a play meadow, natural play elements, the entrance gate, and other communal spaces.
The walk will commence at the information point on the path between Jubellaan and Geerdegemstraat. Participants can follow the 5 stops through the forest at their own pace. Questions can be directed to the Huis van de Mechelaar via phone at 015 28 00 00 or email at onthaal@mechelen.be.
