Citizen helpers are trained volunteers who can be called upon to assist fellow residents during emergency or crisis situations. Tasks may include helping with cleanup after local flooding or supporting the unexpected closure of a youth camp. This initiative is part of Regio Neteland's broader strategy to enhance the resilience of residents and neighborhoods.
Interested residents can attend one of five info sessions in November. These sessions will provide details about the project, potential roles, training, and how citizen helpers will be deployed. The information presented will be the same at each session, allowing participants to attend an event in a different Neteland municipality if needed.
The info sessions will take place from 7 PM to 9 PM at the following locations:
- November 12 – Zaal Meier, Molenvest 19, Herentals
- November 13 – OC De Vrede, Lichtaartseweg 131, Olen
- November 18 – De Kampus, Cardijnlaan 8a, Vorselaar
- November 25 – ’t Pleintje, Dorp 81, Grobbendonk
- November 26 – Feestzaal, Bouwelse Steenweg 10, Herenthout
Attending an info session is non-committal and does not obligate participants. After the presentation, individuals can decide whether to apply as a citizen helper. Each municipality aims to establish its own group of citizen helpers, requiring a minimum number of candidates per municipality to commence training. Advance registration for the info sessions is mandatory.
