With the 'Kobie Anders' series, vzw Kobie in Essen aims to offer a new listening experience. The focus is on five intimate aperitif concerts, emphasizing musical discoveries, special artists, and a cozy atmosphere. The concerts take place in the Bovenzaal of the Oude Pastorij on Sunday mornings from 11 AM to 12 PM, accommodating about sixty visitors. After each concert, a drink is served for further conversation.
'Kobie Anders' seeks to appeal not only to music lovers but also to curious visitors eager to explore new experiences. The repertoire spans various genres, from classical to world music, French chanson, Americana, and Jazz. "With new concepts like Kobie Anders, we can broaden our cultural offerings and discover what resonates with our audience. This allows us to build a diverse program step by step, ensuring a wide and surprising selection upon the opening of the new cultural venue," stated a spokesperson for the vzw.
The series kicks off on Sunday, January 10, 2027, with the Terra Nova Sextet performing their program ‘Verborgen stem Mozart & Van Maldere’ (Hidden Voice Mozart & Van Maldere). This ensemble, led by bass clarinet professor Vlad Weverbergh from the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, revives 18th-century music by Mozart and Pieter van Maldere on historical instruments.
“"With Kobie Anders, we want to surprise people and let them discover new musical worlds. We are immediately opening with a highlight: the Terra Nova Sextet led by Vlad Weverbergh. An absolute top ensemble that sets the tone for the rest of the series."
The program for 2027 is fully scheduled with five concerts. Tickets for the spring of 2027 will soon be available via essen.be/tickets. More information can be found at essen.be/kobieanders.
