Setting off fireworks carries significant risks and can cause both physical and material damage. Every year, victims of fireworks accidents occur during the New Year's transition. The risk of burns is high, and serious eye injuries are common. Nearby animals also become stressed and confused by the noise and flashes of light.
Therefore, in Duffel, it is forbidden to set off private fireworks. The BoDuKaP police zone will maintain extra surveillance on New Year's Eve. Possessing, displaying, exhibiting, and any preparatory action for setting off private fireworks is prohibited. Those caught risk a municipal fine (GAS-boete).
The Duffel police district office can be reached by appointment at 015 30 73 52. The office is available by phone between 9 AM and 4 PM.
