In Hamont-Achel, new developments for equestrian sports have been implemented, partly thanks to the Interreg project 'Grensloos Park De Groote Heide', enhancing the comfort and experience of the equestrian and carriage driving route network.

Thanks to a quality boost within the Interreg project 'Grensloos Park De Groote Heide', various locations and facilities in Hamont-Achel have been improved to make the equestrian and carriage driving route network more attractive for recreational riders and drivers from the region.
A recently completed obstacle course in the forest along the Beverbekerdijk (near junction 19) offers additional variety. The water crossing at the Witteberg (near junction 15) has also been thoroughly renovated; the passage has been dug wider, making it more user-friendly.
These achievements complement the renewed resting points at Domein De Bever (between junctions 97 and 98) and De Waag (at junction 20), which were delivered earlier this summer. They contribute to a high-quality network of rest stops and adapted facilities.
