The college of mayor and aldermen granted a conditional environmental permit for this project on October 28. The four existing social homes will be completely renovated and replaced by six semi-detached and two detached single-family homes. This initiative is part of the expansion of the social housing supply, which is crucial for families awaiting affordable housing.
Each new home will feature its own garden, an outbuilding, and a parking space on its own plot. The homes will have two stories, with the exception of one home that will have one story. Woonboog is thus opting for family homes that align with the residential character of the area.
During the project assessment, the municipal council paid attention to its integration into the environment. The permit includes conditions for preserving existing trees and planting new ones. Provisions will also be made for collecting and infiltrating rainwater.
The conditional permit allows Woonboog to proceed with the redevelopment, provided all imposed conditions are met. Legal appeal options remain applicable.
