During the Week of the Forest, the City of Roeselare invites everyone to discover the many benefits of the forest. On Sunday, October 11th, the Bergmolenbos will be transformed into an adventurous play and experience trail, full of nature, wonder, and fun.
Children can participate in the 'forest hero tour', moving from tree to tree, collecting materials, completing tasks, and playfully learning how trees produce oxygen, absorb CO2, and retain water. Each young forest hero will be rewarded with a tasty surprise at the end of the tour.
Adults will also have an engaging afternoon along five interactive theme islands. They will discover how forests provide cooling, water retention, a home for animals, and contribute to healthy air. Activities range from a relaxing forest bath to searching for creepy crawlies, building a camp, and splitting wood.
The organization emphasizes that the best way to learn about nature is to experience it firsthand. Therefore, everyone is invited to explore the Bergmolenbos together and experience the 'superpowers' of trees and forests.
The Week of the Forest in Roeselare is a collaboration between the City of Roeselare and partners such as VIVES, Natuurpunt, Jeugdbond voor Natuur en Milieu, Agentschap Natuur en Bos, Meer Bomen in Roeselare, and Bosgroep.
The event takes place on Sunday, October 11th, 2026, continuously from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM. The entrance to the Bergmolenbos is located near the Oude Zilverbergstraat. Participation is free. Visitors are encouraged to come on foot or by bicycle; bicycle parking is provided. Those arriving by car can park at the Sterrebos parking lot in the Sterrebosdreef or in the Oude Zilverbergstraat.
