The City of Roeselare introduces 'Parkeer plus Zorg', an initiative where residents temporarily make their private driveways available to caregivers to resolve parking challenges.

Care providers visiting patients at home, such as nurses, GPs, or physiotherapists, often spend valuable time searching for parking spots close to the patient's residence. To address this issue, the city is asking residents with a garage or driveway to temporarily share their space.
Residents willing to voluntarily offer their private driveway can submit an application via the City of Roeselare website. Following approval by the city services, they will receive a 'Parkeer plus Zorg' sticker to make the parking spot recognizable for caregivers.
Caregivers with a valid parking card are permitted to park for a maximum of one hour during their patient visits in these designated spots. The card includes a phone number to contact the caregiver if the vehicle needs to be moved urgently.
This initiative, initially focused on the city center but also open to sub-municipalities, aims to create additional parking options in areas with high parking pressure. The city will compile and share an overview of available spots with caregivers and healthcare organizations.
The regulation will soon be discussed in the Spatial Planning committee and presented to the municipal council for approval. After approval, residents can register their parking space via roeselare.be, after which the Mobility department will assess the application and issue the sticker. Caregivers can also apply for a parking card through the website.
