The municipality of Wetteren is seeking new members for various participation groups starting January 1, 2027. Anyone involved in Wetteren and wanting to contribute to the municipality's future is welcome, regardless of experience.

Anyone involved in Wetteren and interested in contributing ideas about what matters, what can be improved, and what can be achieved together is welcome. From January 1, 2027, several participation groups will have a new composition, and the municipality is looking for new voices.
New members are sought for the Culture Steering Group, Sport Steering Group, Seniors Steering Group, Global Affairs Steering Group, and Youth Steering Group. Experience is not required; ideas, a critical perspective, curiosity, or the desire to listen and learn are sufficient.
Within a participation group, you collaborate with other residents on a topic that interests you. You contribute ideas, listen, ask questions, and critically review proposals and projects. Your personal experience and perspective are valuable, as good ideas often arise when diverse people come together.
The participation groups meet at least five times a year, supported by the local government. Additionally, there is a networking event twice a year where different groups convene to work across themes on broader subjects. The new composition runs from January 1, 2027, to December 31, 2029.
The municipality emphasizes that they are not looking for experts but aim to make space for new voices and surprising ideas. Whether young or old, new to Wetteren or born and raised here, everyone is encouraged to participate.
Interested individuals can apply via the municipality's website until December 20, 2026.
