In Ieper, 36 organizations from the care and welfare sector and the nine local authorities of the Westhoek have taken a significant step towards a dementia-friendly region by signing a declaration of commitment.

The signing took place at CC Het Perron in Ieper following an information afternoon that included workshops and the musical Lichtgevoelig. This initiative builds on nearly three years of collaboration between Eerstelijnszone Westhoek and various partners to better support people with dementia and their caregivers.
Through this commitment, organizations and municipalities pledge to jointly work towards faster dementia recognition, providing the right support, and ensuring that people with dementia and their caregivers feel heard and understood. Efforts will also focus on making activities, services, and meeting places accessible to everyone, aiming to build a region where all feel welcome.
In Poperinge, collaboration has been ongoing under the banner of Dementievriendelijk Poperinge. This partnership between Stad Poperinge, Lokaal Dienstencentrum De Bres, Zorgsite Proventier, and vzw O.L.V. Gasthuis aims to create a city where individuals with dementia and their loved ones are full members of society.
