SC Lange Munte in Kortrijk Undergoes Major Renovation
A revamped sports café, new LED lighting, and a basketball floor provide a significant upgrade to the sports campus.

The SC Lange Munte sports campus in Kortrijk has undergone a significant renovation, including a new sports café, modern LED lighting, and a brand-new basketball floor.
SC Lange Munte, the home base for many athletes and top sports in Kortrijk, has recently received a substantial facelift. With a renovated sports café, new LED lighting in the main hall, and a new basketball floor, the sports campus is getting a significant upgrade both on and off the court.
The familiar Sport K-café, now renamed Spurscafé, has been completely renovated by operator vzw Trigger, with support from Coca-Cola and Brouwerij Vander Ghinste. A new bar with refrigerators has been installed, the café features new window graphics, and a beamer has been added for large-screen broadcasts during matches and events. The kitchen has also been upgraded for more efficient and compliant operations. The brewery will soon also repaint the entrance to the Spurscafé, providing a welcome refresh after twenty years. The total investment in this renovation amounts to approximately 35,000 euros: 20,000 euros from Coca-Cola, 10,000 euros from Brouwerij Vander Ghinste, and 5,000 euros from the clubs.
The city council also contributed with an investment of 200,000 euros for new lighting in the main hall (hall 1) and halls 3 through 5. This switch from fluorescent to LED lighting ensures lower energy consumption and modern illumination that meets top sports requirements, which is important for athletes and potential live TV broadcasts.

There's another renovation for basketball at SC Lange Munte: a new floor, purchased in collaboration with the city. House of Talents Spurs invested 101,000 euros, receiving an investment subsidy of 40,000 euros from Stad Kortrijk. This new floor will be placed on top of the existing, over 20-year-old sports floor during basketball matches of the House of Talent Spurs and national teams like the Belgian Cats and Lions.

The renovations at SC Lange Munte will continue. Xtra-Time, the space with a bar at the tribune of hall 1, will also get a new look, with LED lighting in the ceiling displaying the lines of various sports fields. These fields can also be illuminated individually. Vivalight is responsible for this adaptation, an investment of approximately 30,000 euros as part of the sponsorship of House of Talents Spurs. The concrete execution is currently being prepared, and a definitive timeline for the works is not yet available.
