On Thursday, November 19th, Stad Gent is organizing a sports day for seniors at Lago Rozebroeken. This event is part of the Gentse seniorenweek and provides participants with an opportunity to stay active and engage in sports with their peers.
Participants can customize their sports day from an offering of 20 sports, available both indoors and outdoors, in or out of the water. The program includes activities such as keep fit, back training, sports carousel, yoga, aquafitness, and a walking tour. New this year are racketlon (a combination of badminton, table tennis, and pickleball), walking football, and aquadrums. The sports day is also inclusive for participants with disabilities.
The day begins between 8:00 AM and 9:30 AM with registration and breakfast. Participants can opt for a half or full day of sports. Two sports sessions are scheduled for the morning (10:30 AM-11:00 AM and 11:00 AM-12:00 PM) and two for the afternoon (1:30 PM-2:30 PM and 3:00 PM-4:00 PM), unless they choose the half-day walking tour. There is a 30-minute break between sessions. The sports day concludes at 4:00 PM with coffee and a pancake.
Participation costs € 7 for a half day and € 14 for a full day. Residents of Gent, Destelbergen, Merelbeke-Melle, and Lochristi with a Uitpas regio Gent benefit from a reduced rate of € 1.40 (half day) or € 2.80 (full day). A warm meal in the Lago Rozebroeken cafeteria costs € 17 and can be requested during registration. Participants are also welcome to bring their own packed lunch.
Registration is open from Tuesday, October 20th, 2:00 PM to Tuesday, November 10th, 5:00 PM via the Stad Gent website or by calling Gentinfo (09 210 10 10). Payment is due on the day of the event during registration, preferably by Bancontact or with exact change.
