Cindy Monnens, who has managed Kaffee Damast next to the Texture museum for twelve years, will take over the hospitality operations of Abby Café in Kortrijk starting October 1st. Together with the Abby team, she plans to develop a renewed café concept that combines the rich history of the former Groeninge Abbey, its inner garden, and a welcoming, recognizable cuisine.
Abby Café, which opened in March 2025 as an integral part of the Abby museum, aims to be a meeting point for museum visitors, local residents, and passers-by. The café, located in the Begijnhofpark, is open to everyone, even without visiting the exhibition.

Monnens will first familiarize herself with the museum café, identify areas for improvement, and develop a new concept. She plans to draw inspiration from the site's history, where edible herbs and flowers once flourished. This connection will be reflected in the menu, which will emphasize seasonal products, garden herbs, and accessible dishes with familiar flavors, such as stews and other classics with a contemporary twist. The full menu will be released later.
The café will maintain its current opening hours: Tuesday through Sunday, from 10 AM to 5 PM. The café's distinctive interior design will also remain unchanged for the time being. With Monnens' arrival, Abby Café aims to become a staple in Kortrijk. The city council and vzw Cuca see her experience and expertise as a significant asset for the café's development.

Monnens' freelance assignment is initially for 12 months, with a possibility for extension. She will combine this role with the management of Kaffee Damast.
