The summer at Ter Heide was characterized by a wide array of experiences, spread across various residential neighborhoods and the central day care. From festive moments and sporting challenges to calm activities and sensory experiences, the offering was diverse and focused on tailored activation for the residents.
The Summerparty at the Zonhoven campus, featuring music by Danny Kerkhofs, set a cheerful tone where residents could dance, sing, and enjoy. This energy continued with sporting activities like Laddergolf, Boccia, and Kubb, where residential groups competed fiercely but, more importantly, played and encouraged each other together.
On the Zonhoven campus, residents also enjoyed an Italian holiday feeling at the ‘Antipasti e Basta’ bar, which transformed the familiar environment into a sunny terrace. A summer escape room offered a challenge where residents collaboratively cracked codes and found solutions, enhancing the sense of shared accomplishment.
A photo scavenger hunt turned the campus into an exploration area, with locations like the BerenBerg and the LeeuwenLounge. Residents embarked on a journey through familiar places that now held new stories, concluding with a picnic. The outdoor play days in the Heuvel neighborhood also provided a rhythm of action and rest, with activities such as a bouncy castle, water fun, and face painting.
Beyond the campus, residents from the Brikhof neighborhood enjoyed a ride on the Pipotrein through the orchards. In the Oase neighborhood, children explored BiMmen in the summer tent, visited Plopsa Indoor, and Sens-city. Water played a key role during warm days, with paddling pools, foot baths, and a jacuzzi in the Henisberg neighborhood, and water guns creating spontaneous interactions.
The summer was also enhanced with treats, such as an ice cream buffet and a tapas bar, which fostered cozy moments around the table. The Brik 1 neighborhood organized an "inside-out day" with clothes worn inside-out and backward, and a modified menu, leading to much laughter and spontaneity. On the square of the Woonerf neighborhood, a true festival took place with live performances and a festive atmosphere.
The summer concluded festively with the End of Summerparty at the Zonhoven campus. The activities demonstrated that activation can take many forms, from visible movement to subtle reactions. The most important aspect was the space for participation, discovery, and the feeling of belonging. Although the summer has passed, the movement and positive experiences within Ter Heide continue.
Ter Heide is also currently seeking new employees, interns, and volunteers. Working or interning at Ter Heide means constantly adapting, coordinating, and being present in a living group where residents actively participate and no two days are the same.
