Heule has undergone significant changes in recent years, with projects such as the renewal of Heuleplaats and Heulepark, the creation of the Tinekesbos, parts of the Groene Verbinding, and investments in De Warande. To inform residents about these developments and engage in dialogue, the city is organizing this information market. Everyone received a personal invitation two weeks ago.
The market begins with an introductory film featuring the figure of Tineke van Heule, who has watched over Heuleplaats for forty years, as she explores the sub-municipality to discover its changes and future plans. During her tour, she meets the mayor and an alderman. Tineke's voice was provided by Diete Witdouck, Tineke van Heule 2026.
This information market builds upon the participatory process initiated earlier this year, where city services, policymakers, and local stakeholders discussed themes such as youth, sport, care, and space. The insights from these discussions form the basis for the information market.
Visitors will receive information on ongoing projects, investments, and broader choices facing Heule. This includes plans for youth and sports infrastructure, care facilities, road works, urban renewal projects, the new Kortrijk-Noord care campus, and developments at the Kortrijk-Noord business park. Challenges such as aging, mobility, land use, and education will also be addressed.
The city also aims to hear residents' perspectives on the future. Visitors can provide their ideas and points of attention on-site through a survey, which will be incorporated into the ongoing participatory process for Heule's future.
The introductory film will be replayed every half hour. Admission is free, and visitors can attend at their convenience between 10 AM and 4 PM.
Ruth Vandenberghe, the mayor, emphasizes that Heule, with over 12,600 inhabitants, is Kortrijk's largest sub-municipality and remains dynamic. The information market brings all plans together in one place, allowing residents to discover what lies ahead and contribute their ideas for Heule's future.
