The existing asphalt paths are being replaced by semi-hardened paths made of porphyry. This ensures that wheelchair users, people with strollers, and visitors with limited mobility can comfortably enjoy nature in the Duinbossen.
The work will commence in October 2026 and is expected to cause temporary inconvenience for walkers. However, local diversions will be provided to allow visitors to continue enjoying the area.
This project is a collaboration between the Agency for Nature and Forest, the Flemish Land Agency, the Agency for Maritime Services and Coastal Affairs (Coastal Division), and the local government of De Haan. Together, they are committed to protecting and restoring the Duinbossen and providing a pleasant experience for visitors.
Several improvements are planned for the coming years. In 2027, the parking lot at Zwarte Kiezel will be redeveloped, and a new reception point will be established. Furthermore, work will continue step-by-step on the area surrounding the former military domain of Radstabe, the old water tower, and the pump house on Congolaan.
