During the national BE-Alert test day on October 1st, the alert platform underwent thorough testing in Bredene. The municipality sent out 4,735 emails to registered residents, of which 4,400 were successfully reached.
A total of 45 cities and municipalities in West Flanders participated in this exercise. This allows local authorities to practice with the system and test procedures in a simulated emergency situation, without any real danger.
The test day also serves as an important reminder of BE-Alert's utility. In an actual emergency, the government can use this platform to quickly provide essential information and instructions on the necessary actions.
Residents are encouraged to regularly check and update their contact details on the BE-Alert platform. This ensures they can be reached promptly when needed. Those not yet registered can sign up via www.be-alert.be to receive important updates during emergencies in their area.
