Due to planned works on the new Markthal, an existing venue for events in the center of Overijse has become unavailable. As an alternative, a warehouse behind AC De Vuurmolen, located on the Begijnhofsite, has been proposed. Works have started this week to make the building ready for safe events.
The location will be available for 'pop-up events' and will not be permanently open. Four times a year, it can be used for one or more activities for a period of one month. The first event, the Winterhallen, will take place from December 3 to January 10. Preparations for this have already begun.
Further planning and approach will be determined in the coming weeks and months, after the concrete operation of this location has been further developed. Associations will be kept informed of the possibilities. The type of activity can vary, from parties and drinks to markets such as a flower or flea market.
With this initiative, the municipality aims to meet the demand from associations for a location in the center. The goal is to bridge the period of works on the new Markthal while still providing space for social gatherings.
