The Leuven youth organization mijnleuven is celebrating its 15th anniversary on Friday, September 25th, with a party at the Villa van mijnleuven.
Leuven is this year celebrating the fifteenth anniversary of mijnleuven, a youth organization founded fifteen years ago within the Leuven youth service. What began as an initiative to give young people more space and input has grown into a regular meeting place where young people develop ideas, meet each other, and set up their own projects and events. To mark this milestone, the city of Leuven is organizing a party on Friday, September 25th, at the Villa van mijnleuven.
Since its start in 2011, mijnleuven has become an established name for young people in Leuven. The organization now includes concerts, events, youth projects, participation trajectories, and support for young organizers. Its own youth magazine was also launched. Since 2023, mijnleuven has found a new home in the Villa, after being located in the historic city hall for many years.

"Fifteen years ago, we started with the question: how do we truly make Leuven a city for young people? This could only be achieved by letting young people take initiative themselves and allowing them to claim a part of the city, its nightlife, and concerts. Today, you can see how much has emerged since then. Thanks to its low threshold, Mijnleuven has become a place where young people themselves become 'mijnleuvenaars', try out ideas, and set up their own initiatives. That is perhaps its greatest achievement: that thanks to mijnleuven, young people know that Leuven also belongs to them."
The fifteenth anniversary party will take place on Friday, September 25th, at the Villa van mijnleuven and will focus on young local talent. The DJ, live band, and cooks are all young people from Leuven. Everyone is welcome from 8 PM for a reception, a performance by Grannyskave, and a DJ set to conclude the evening.
