Children, young people, and families collaborated on a vibrant mural conveying a message of respect, friendship, and togetherness. Under the guidance of a professional graffiti artist, participants learned basic techniques and helped shape the artwork. The result serves as a reminder to passersby that bullying has no place in Kortenberg. As an extra thank you, each participant had the chance to spin a prize wheel.
Additionally, visitors can anonymously leave a warm message, compliment, or wish against bullying in the anti-bullying mailbox at the Bib (library) until Friday, October 9. The most inspiring submissions will be displayed in the library, encouraging other visitors and showing how small words can make a big difference. The Bib is also compiling a themed table about bullying.
The ideas for both the mural and the anti-bullying mailbox originated from a brainstorm session with the children's municipal council. Their proposals formed the basis for the actions through which Gemeente Kortenberg (Municipality of Kortenberg) sought to raise extra awareness this year for respect, togetherness, and a safe environment for everyone.
Each year, Gemeente Kortenberg organizes a sensitization campaign against bullying during the STIP IT campaign. By actively involving children and young people, the municipality aims to demonstrate that everyone can contribute to a warm and respectful society.
Gemeente Kortenberg thanks everyone who participated for their enthusiasm and creativity. Thanks to their efforts, the colorful mural now adorns the rear facade of the scout premises at the skatepark, serving as a lasting visual call for respectful interaction.
