The model provides an impression of how the new swimming site will be integrated into the green surroundings of the provincial domain. Through this project, the province of Vlaams-Brabant and the city of Leuven aim to meet the demand for more swimming water in Leuven. The plans include a naturally purified 25-meter pool for recreational and sports swimmers, and a separate paddling pool for young children, complemented by spacious relaxation areas.
“"The model allows visitors to get acquainted with the new outdoor swimming pool today and makes the plans much more tangible. Together with the province, we are investing in a future-oriented swimming site for both recreational and sports swimmers. We look forward to continuing our work on a place for sport, relaxation, and recreation, right in the green."
The province of Vlaams-Brabant and the city of Leuven recently took a further step in realizing the project. Together with the design team, they are further developing the plans into a final design. The next phase involves refining the design and preparing the environmental permit application. Construction is expected to start after the summer of 2027, with the new swimming site scheduled to open in 2029.
The model of the future outdoor swimming pool is on display in the entrance hall of the city hall and can be viewed freely during opening hours. More information can be found at leuven.be/contact/stadskantoor.
