On Wednesday, November 18, 2025, doctors and nurses from the Pneumology department at AZ Sint-Maria are participating in World COPD Day. Between 11:30 AM and 4:00 PM, visitors can get more information about COPD, smoking cessation, and lung health in the hospital's entrance hall.
During the event, lung function can be measured for free via spirometry. Lung specialists and nurses will be available to discuss the results and provide advice on breathing, smoking cessation, and prevention.
COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) is a chronic lung disease that makes breathing increasingly difficult. Smoking is the primary cause, but prolonged exposure to air pollution or fine dust can also play a role. Early detection is crucial for maintaining quality of life.
The event will take place in the reception area of AZ Sint-Maria, Ziekenhuislaan 100 in Halle, on Wednesday, November 18, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
Dr. Dorian Bivort explains how COPD can be detected and why timely screening is very important.
