The exclusive night tariff is being phased out and will completely disappear on January 1, 2028. This tariff was originally introduced during a period with surplus electricity at night, ideal for appliances like storage heaters and electric boilers. However, due to the increase in solar and wind energy, there are fewer surpluses at night, leading to the abolition of this tariff. Customers with an exclusive night meter may keep it until 2028, after which it will be replaced by a single meter.
Fluvius is communicating the changes in several phases. The first group to receive a letter includes customers who no longer use their exclusive night meter, customers with consumption below 10,000 kWh via their night meter, and customers who currently have two digital meters. Customers with solar panels or consumption above 10,000 kWh will receive more information after the new year.
For customers still using their exclusive night meter for appliances such as storage heaters or boilers, Fluvius recommends timely consideration of a suitable solution. Options like renovation, smart control, or a free clock-based solution are suggested. An electrician can advise on the best approach for your situation. Customers who no longer use their night meter can prepare their installation for the transition, for which Fluvius provides explanations in a brochure. Customers with two digital meters will also get a single meter from 2028; the second digital meter will be removed free of charge if no longer used.
More detailed information on your specific situation and the steps to take is available on the Fluvius website. For technical questions about the digital meter, you can contact Fluvius at 078 / 35 35 34, available on weekdays from 8 AM to 8 PM and on Saturdays from 9 AM to 1 PM.
