The Municipality of Drogenbos is calling on enthusiastic citizens and organizations to apply for the Municipal Commission for Spatial Planning (GECORO). The call for applications closes on December 18, 2026.

The Municipal Commission for Spatial Planning (GECORO) is to be established. The municipality makes a warm appeal for individuals to put themselves forward as candidates. Individual persons and associations or organizations nominating candidates can apply until March 31, 2026.
The GECORO is the advisory council for spatial planning at the municipal level. Its main tasks relate to spatial planning, such as advising on municipal spatial implementation plans, urban planning regulations, the living environment plan, and planning certificates. The council advises the college of mayor and aldermen and the municipal council. The GECORO can also take initiative in this regard.
More information about what the GECORO is and how the council works can be found on the website of the VVSG and the VRP (www.gecoro.info).
The GECORO functions optimally with sufficient societal involvement and a balanced composition. Enthusiastic, committed individuals with a connection to the municipality, a broad perspective, and a long-term vision ensure that the GECORO is a high-quality advisory board. As a GECORO member, you will know what is happening in the municipality and can make a well-founded contribution through experience, interests, or profession.
We are looking for experts in the field of spatial planning. Expertise depends on various factors (education, diploma, knowledge, experience, etc.) and must be demonstrated through a CV and motivation letter. The following aspects will be assessed: having a connection to what is happening in the municipality of Drogenbos; being sufficiently independent, both politically and from pressure groups; not having or pursuing professional (real estate) interests in the municipality; having insight into, or being familiar with, spatial planning or being willing to become familiar with it; being competent enough to review official reports in a short time, to form an informed opinion on a specific spatial issue, and then to deliberate and reach an advice consistent with the regulations; communication skills and willingness to listen.
The chairperson and attending members receive a lump-sum fee per session. A substitute is also appointed for each member. When composing the membership, a 2/3 male-female ratio must be taken into account. We therefore make a warm appeal to associations to nominate both a male and a female candidate!
Would you like to apply? Apply no later than December 18, 2026 via wo@drogenbos.be. Experts must motivate their application and substantiate it with a CV and motivation letter. Candidates nominated by an association or organization must include a letter of motivation and written agreement from the chairperson regarding the nomination.
