The cemetery in Buizingen has undergone a transformation with the replacement of old red gravel paths by new, water-permeable paths with gravel lawns. The city of Halle invested in a greener and more accessible place of remembrance.

Visitors attending the cemetery in Buizingen around All Saints' Day will notice a significant change. The former red gravel paths have been replaced by paths with gravel lawns. The grass between the lanes still needs to grow, which will give the cemetery a considerably greener appearance after winter.
The renovation includes the creation of two sturdy lanes with grass in between. This new design not only provides a calmer and greener aesthetic but also improves water permeability, allowing rainwater to better penetrate the soil. The cemetery in Buizingen will thus achieve the same visual style as the other cemeteries within the city of Halle.
In addition to the focus on greening, the city also paid attention to the accessibility of the new paths. They are now more easily navigable for all visitors. Furthermore, the maintenance of the paths is expected to be less intensive. The works have been completed, allowing visitors to commemorate their loved ones in a well-kept and greener environment from November 1st onwards.
The total cost for this renovation amounts to €321,454.05, including VAT.
