The Flemish government has finalized the scoping note for the Spatial Implementation Plan (GRUP) Zelzate Oost following a public consultation.

The scoping note includes the alternatives to be further investigated and the approach for the environmental impact assessment. It also contains the reasoned processing of all received feedback. This note serves as the foundation for drafting the preliminary GRUP.
To assess the environmental impact of the alternatives, an initial overall design of the railway and roads is required, expected in the spring of 2027. Subsequently, the plan-MER can be prepared. Coordination with the Netherlands is also necessary regarding the connection of the railway and road network, where a study with an environmental impact report will also be initiated. Consequently, the further timeline for drafting the preliminary GRUP is difficult to estimate.
