During Open Company Day on September 29, 2026, Local Government Wetteren will open the doors of its town hall. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the staff and learn about their tasks, from issuing documents to maintaining public spaces and supporting local associations and businesses.
The municipality aims to create a dynamic Wetteren as a center on the Scheldt, a pleasant place to live, work, and stay. This is achieved through collaboration with residents, entrepreneurs, and associations, focusing on customer orientation and professionalism. The values the municipality stands for are summarized in the acronym SPEK.
Inside the town hall, visitors can view a hornet's nest safely, discover projects like the Municipal Event Hall, learn about the workings of the municipal council, and explore the cultural offerings. There will also be a children's scavenger hunt and a complimentary drink. Additionally, spatial plans and information on childminders and childcare will be presented.
At the fountains, participants can test their reflexes with a sports activity. The market square will feature an exhibition of electric vehicles, including a street sweeper, a police car with a motorcyclist, a truck, and a van. A police drone will be demonstrated in action at 10:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 2:00 PM, and 3:00 PM.
As a closing gift, families will receive a goodie bag, thanks to local traders. Participation is free and no registration is required; visitors can drop in at their convenience. The last visitors will be welcomed at 4:00 PM.
Cyclists can park their bikes in the bicycle parking at Rode Heuvel. For those arriving by car, free parking is available at Parking Scheldekaai (under the town hall) or Parking Tragel.
