BE-Alert is the official government alerting system. In case of an emergency, authorities can quickly disseminate information and guidelines via BE-Alert, for example via SMS, a voice call, or email. This allows residents to quickly know what is happening and what measures or actions are necessary.
The test on October 1st is intended to check if the system is working correctly and to familiarize residents with BE-Alert. No action is required with the test message, as it is a announced test and not a real emergency. Only registered residents will receive a test message.
If you are not yet registered for BE-Alert, you can do so for free and choose the channels through which you wish to be warned.
The national BE-Alert test is part of the Samen Voorbereid (Prepared Together) campaign by the National Crisis Centre (NCCN). This multi-year campaign aims to inform residents about risks, emergencies, and the correct reflexes when something happens, to ensure quick and correct action in emergency situations.
