Yesterday, two astronauts were active in the Overpoortstraat to playfully remind students about the glass ban. Together with atmosphere managers from Flow, they handed out reusable cups. Tonight, they will continue their initiative. The campaign also includes information pillars at the start of the street, disco balls on the glass recycling bins, and stickers and posters in cafes and night shops.
Following the awareness campaign, enforcement will begin. Next week, the police will conduct extra checks on the glass ban, which is in effect from 8 PM to 7 AM. Violators face a GAS fine of 60 euros. The sale of glass in night shops is also prohibited during this period.
At the start of the academic year, we always remind students of the agreed-upon rules. Together, we ensure a safe and liveable Overpoortstraat.
Later this autumn, further campaigns on sexual boundary violations and responsible serving will take place in the Overpoortstraat.
