The Mandekensstraat, a busy connecting road between Baasrode and Buggenhout, is scheduled for a thorough refurbishment in August 2027. The road has been in poor condition for a long time, frequently leading to reports filed with municipal services. To enhance traffic safety and driving comfort, both the base and top layers of the roadway will be renewed with asphalt concrete across the entire width of the street.
Given the current state of the road surface, a structural renewal is necessary. Through this investment, Dendermonde city and Buggenhout municipality aim to guarantee public safety and improve the road's quality in the long term. Due to the scale and technical nature of the works, the execution will be entrusted to a specialized contractor via a public tender procedure.
The Mandekensstraat is a cross-border road, lying equally within the territories of Dendermonde and Buggenhout. Consequently, both local authorities are joining forces for this project through a cooperation agreement. The municipality of Buggenhout will act as the contracting authority, managing the placement and supervision of the contract, also on behalf of the city of Dendermonde.
The total cost of the works is estimated at 399,398.75 euros excluding VAT, amounting to 483,272.49 euros including VAT. With this joint investment, both authorities are committed to ensuring safe, sustainable, and high-quality road infrastructure for residents and road users alike.
The execution of the works is currently planned for August 2027. More information regarding the specific schedule and any traffic measures will be announced at a later date.
