With the new railway bridge, the level crossing on the Beerveldsebaan will disappear. This means road users will no longer have to wait for trains, increasing traffic safety and improving flow. Cyclists will also benefit from increased comfort and safety, as the cycle highway will be extended under the bridge, allowing them to cross the Beerveldsebaan without crossing car traffic.
From October 12, 2026, through November 15, 2026, the Beerveldsebaan will be closed to all through traffic (phase 1 & 2 of works) for connecting the bridge over the railway. The crossing at Beervelde station will remain open. By following the necessary diversions, the football club, station, and event hall will remain accessible.
Phase 1 (October 12-25): The Beerveldsebaan on the north side of the station (towards Bastelare - De Lozen Boer) will be closed. The detour for motorized transport is via E17 – R4 – N70 and vice versa. Cyclists will be rerouted via Pauwstraat – Poelinkstraat - Ter poelen - Fietssnelweg F4 - Station and vice versa. The station will remain accessible via the center of Beervelde.
Phase 2 (October 26 - November 15): The Beerveldsebaan on the south side of the station (towards Beervelde) will be closed. The detour for motorized transport is also via E17 – R4 – N70 and vice versa. Cyclists will follow a route from the intersection Beerveldse baan / Beervelde-dorp - Ledeakkerstraat - Fietssnelweg F4 - Station and vice versa. The station will remain accessible via the N70.
Phase 3 and 4 (finishing): In the subsequent phases, the north side will be completed first, followed by the south side. These finishing phases will cause local disruption but no detours will be implemented. From November 16 to December 6, phase 3 (finishing north side: parking and road surface) will occur with local disruption. From December 7 to January 17, phase 4 (finishing south side: parking and road surface) will take place, also with local disruption.
