De Vlaamse Waterweg nv has lifted restrictions on the Bocholt–Herentals Canal and the Zuid-Willemsvaart as the blue-green algae bloom has disappeared.

The manager of, among others, the Zuid-Willemsvaart canal, the Briegden-Neerharen canal, the canal to Beverlo, and the Bocholt-Herentals canal informs that the blue-green algae bloom on these waterways has disappeared. As of today, no further restrictions or prohibitions apply due to blue-green algae on these canals.
The temporary ban on water extraction for non-navigable waterways in Limburg is being lifted. Water levels and flow rates have sufficiently recovered in most areas. Additionally, the demand for water from nature and agriculture is currently very limited.
The permanent ban on water extraction for the most vulnerable waterways, introduced in 2022, remains in effect. More information is available on the website crisis-limburg.be.
