Since May 22, two new AED devices have been installed in the municipality of Zoersel. One device is located at the library in Halle and the other at the library in Zoersel. By 2027, a third device will be installed at the Schoolmeesterswoning in Sint-Antonius.
This expansion in strategic locations is part of a broader AED policy aimed at accelerating emergency response during cardiac arrest. Thirty Belgians suffer cardiac arrest daily, with only five to ten percent surviving. Starting resuscitation and using an AED significantly increases the chances of survival.
Concurrently, it is observed that people dare to act more quickly and with greater confidence after completing training. Therefore, the municipality, in collaboration with the Red Cross, organizes various courses to familiarize participants with resuscitation and the use of AED devices.
The planned courses on 'resuscitation and defibrillation for adults (with AED)' will take place on Saturday, November 28. There are sessions from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM at the administrative center (Handelslei 167) and at community center Ter Smisse (Smissestraat 19).
