The Province of Antwerp and De Vlaamse Waterweg nv are joining forces for the remediation of the Terhagen Clay Pits, former disposal sites for asbestos and household waste, among other materials.

The Terhagen Clay Pits, formed after small-scale extraction, were historically used as a landfill for various waste materials, including asbestos and household refuse. Although nature has spontaneously grown back on the site since then, remediation is necessary to mitigate the environmental impact.
The current landowners, the Province of Antwerp and De Vlaamse Waterweg nv, are now jointly undertaking this remediation project. Further information on the process steps and news updates can be received by subscribing to the digital newsletter.
