The municipality of Sint-Katelijne-Waver is asking its residents to contribute to the future of its four village cores through an online survey regarding the new building code.

In recent years, the four village cores of Sint-Katelijne-Waver have grown. To shape how these cores will look in the future, a building code is being developed. This process involves two steps: first, a collective reflection with residents on a future vision for each core, followed by translating this vision into clear rules within the building code.
A building code serves as the municipality's building regulations. It ensures that new homes offer quality and that the municipality remains a pleasant place to live, through clear urban planning regulations.
An estimated growth of approximately 600 households is expected between 2023 and 2040, primarily comprising single-person households and larger families. This growth necessitates the need for 237 compact homes (one or two bedrooms) and 364 family homes.
During idea markets, four statements were presented per core to visitors. Now, residents can score these statements online from 0 to 10 and freely share their perspectives on building and housing opportunities and challenges.
The survey runs until Wednesday, October 28. Residents are encouraged to complete the survey for the core where they live, and are welcome to do so for other cores as well.
