The Witte Kerk in Schilde-Bergen, built in 1951 and rebuilt after a fire in 1970, stands as a notable example of post-war church heritage. Recognized as a protected architectural heritage and a significant landmark, the church is part of the collective memory of Schilde.
Despite its deconsecration in 2022, the heritage value was respected during its temporary re-purposing. The floor plan and distinctive elements such as the organ, chapel, and stained-glass windows have been retained, avoiding major structural interventions.
The church will be ready for use from February 2026, ensuring the Witte Kerk continues to hold its significance as a valuable heritage site within the community.
