The municipality of Retie has installed five new public charging points for electric cars at strategic locations.

The new charging points are located at the parking areas of De Vest (Passtraat), Vossekot (Geenend), the municipal sports hall (Boesdijkhofstraat), Hovenstraat (near the intersection with Kerkhofstraat), and at the Kerkplein in Schoonbroek. These locations were chosen because they are often used for longer periods by residents and visitors.
This expansion complements the existing charging stations at the parking of the gemeentepark, Jozef De Voghtplein, and Groenstraat. Retie aims to create an accessible and future-oriented network of public charging points.
The 'Paal volgt Wagen' (Post follows Car) system remains applicable, allowing residents without home charging facilities to request a public charging post under the applicable conditions. The municipality emphasizes that parking spaces at charging points are exclusively for vehicles actively charging; parking without charging risks a fine.
In addition to public charging stations, there are also semi-public charging points at shops, businesses, or recreational areas. These are not always freely accessible and have specific conditions set by the provider.
More information about all public charging points in Retie can be found on the municipal website. The Flemish government also provides a map of all known public and semi-public charging points in Flanders and information on how to request a public charging post.
