The municipality of Olen invites residents to discover fair products during Fair Trade Week. Several initiatives, supported by the municipal council, offer opportunities to taste and learn about Fair Trade.
At schools, pupils will visit the World Shop to learn about Fair Trade. For each participating pupil, the municipal council donates 2.50 euros to the school to purchase fairtrade products for classroom activities.
In the library and the local service center, visitors can enjoy a fair tasting with their coffee. The social restaurant Komie Geire offers a fair meal on Friday, October 9. Registration is required by Tuesday, October 6, either digitally or by phone at 014 26 41 14.
At the weekly market on Thursday, October 8, the World Shop will have a stand offering tastings of fair coffee and dessert. Local initiatives Akwaaba Asuadei and Jussukungo for the Gambia will also provide sweet treats made with fairtrade, organic, and local ingredients.
Olen, a Fair Municipality since 2014, promotes the choice for local, ecological, and fair (LEF) in collaboration with traders, schools, associations, and residents. The municipality encourages participation and highlights the option to receive recipes for desserts with fairtrade, organic, and local ingredients through Sweet Revolution.
