On Friday, October 16th, Mol will participate in the Kempense homeless count. This survey aims to determine how many people are homeless and their living situations, thereby making the often hidden housing needs visible.

A total of 27 cities and municipalities in the Kempen region are participating. Local services and organizations that interact with individuals in vulnerable housing situations will complete a short, anonymous questionnaire. An research team from LUCAS KU Leuven will guide the count and analyze the results.
Homelessness encompasses more than just sleeping on the streets. It also includes individuals temporarily staying with family or friends, living in unsuitable housing, or facing the risk of losing their homes. The count, conducted around the night of October 15th to 16th, will provide aid services and authorities with a clearer picture of the scale and characteristics of this issue.
During the previous count in 2022, 1,720 homeless individuals were counted in the Kempen, including 563 children. The results of the current count will be announced in the course of 2027. More information is available on the Welzijnszorg Kempen website.
