The project Brooddoosnodig, offering healthy nutrition at school, is expanding in Mol. Starting this school year, KSOM Campus Sint-Paulus, GO! primary school ’t Egeltje, and GO! primary school De Spoorzoeker are joining, increasing the project's participating schools in the municipality from 6 to 9.

This expansion aims to anchor Brooddoosnodig more firmly in the Mol education network, ensuring that healthy food is not a barrier for pupils to learn, grow, and participate fully in school life. Since its launch in April 2024, Brooddoosnodig has developed into a robust network of schools, partners, and donors dedicated to improving access to healthy nutrition at school.
Last school year, 6 Mol schools participated: Gemeentelijke basisschool Klim-Op, Vrije basisschool De Toren, GIBBO Galbergen, Saigo Sterrenbos, GO! Campus Het Spoor, and KSOM Ontmoetingscampus. This year, the three new schools join, extending the project's reach to even more pupils in the municipality.
Over the past school year, Brooddoosnodig received support from several Mol service clubs, including Lions Campinia, Leo’s, and Rotary. These donations enabled over 2,000 pupils in 6 Mol schools to receive a free, healthy meal, with offerings ranging from fresh soup and fruit to lunch packages or extra snacks.
Thanks to the Flemish call for projects ‘Healthy nutrition at school’, Enchanté vzw, and the support of donors and partners, more Mol schools can now provide healthy food. Each school tailors its offerings, such as soup, fruit, or healthy snacks, to best suit its pupils and operations. This approach is intentionally accessible, allowing schools to adapt provisions to their daily routines.
Brooddoosnodig is about more than just food; it fosters discussions about healthy eating at school and helps institutions address food inequality in a supportive manner. For pupils, this translates to greater participation, improved concentration, and a stronger sense of belonging at school.
Support for Brooddoosnodig is welcomed in various ways: donations can be made via www.brooddoosnodig.be/mol to specific schools or all participating schools in Mol. Volunteers can also assist by peeling fruit, purchasing food, or distributing soup, and local businesses can establish collaborations with participating schools.
