The local government of Lint is transforming a plot in Bouwenstraat into a valuable green nature reserve, with plans for new plantings and a future tranquility spot.

The local government of Lint is investing in more biodiversity, additional green spaces, and a healthy living environment with the purchase of a natural plot in Bouwenstraat. The area will be transformed into a fully-fledged forest.
This week, Bosgroep Antwerpse Gordel vzw is carrying out preparatory work, including targeted tree felling and the control of invasive species. This will be followed by the planting of new trees according to a plan. The site will also receive a robust deer fence to protect young trees from browsing damage. The work is subsidized by the Agency for Nature and Forest (ANB).
In addition to its natural function, the forest will eventually serve a social purpose. By 2027, the administration plans to establish an accessible, quiet 'troostplek' (place of solace) in the green area, opposite the Lint cemetery. This spot is intended to offer peace, reflection, and comfort to visitors and bereaved families.
