A group of enthusiastic Vremde residents is breathing new life into the 'Old Town Hall'. During the latest municipal council meeting, the user agreement for the building's use was approved. The initiative, supported by the King Baudouin Foundation, the Flemish Land Agency, and the local government, aims to become a central part of village life.
'De Living van Vremd' aspires to become a place where meeting, collaboration, and connection are paramount. It is intended to be a true living room for the village, where residents can connect and new ideas can flourish. The initiators aim to shape its development together with the residents.
The first meeting, held on Monday, September 28, saw about twenty interested villagers. A trial period with several regular and one-off activities will start this autumn. Additionally, De Living plans to collaborate with local associations and participate in existing events in Vremde, such as the flea market and the Christmas market.
Volunteers play a crucial role in the project. The initiators hope to build a broad group of 'Friends of De Living' who will organize their own activities and help the community center grow.
