In the coming weeks, the contractor will switch the homes on the street from the old to the new pipelines. These activities are part of the preparations for the planned road and sewage works that will take place in 2027 between Gasthuisstraat and Kollegestraat.
Disruption for residents and through traffic will remain limited. The contractor will temporarily implement a parking ban in the work zone, but the street will remain accessible for through traffic and all homes will remain reachable.
After these preparatory works, the sidewalks and parking spaces will be temporarily restored. This will be done pending the actual road and sewage works, which will commence in the spring of 2027.
Following the complete redevelopment, Diestseweg will have a separate sewage system and a completely new layout. The street will be designed as a bicycle street.
