The Sports Council of Wingene is launching the Wingene Sport Awards to recognize sporting achievements within the municipality. The award ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 26th.
Awards will be presented in five categories: Sportsman, Sportswoman, Promising Youngster (under 18), Sports Club or Team, and Sports Event. Both individual athletes and sports clubs/teams based in Wingene, or events held within the municipality's territory, are eligible.
The sporting achievement must have occurred between September 1, 2025, and September 1, 2026. Candidates must meet specific conditions: individual nominees must reside in Wingene, while clubs and events must be located within the municipality of Wingene.
When submitting a nomination, a brief description of the achievement, its level, and a justification for why the nominee deserves the Award are required. An independent jury of regional sports officials will evaluate all nominations. Candidates for the podium places will be contacted personally in advance.
Anyone can nominate themselves or propose someone else. The deadline for submitting nominations is November 7th. Those who nominate a candidate also have a chance to win a Wingene voucher worth 25 euros.
