The station area of Roeselare has seen a remarkable decrease in the number of police reports (pv's) over the past six months, indicating the success of an intensified approach by the police and city administration.

Between April and September 2026, there were 38% fewer police reports compared to the winter period and 34% less than in the summer of 2025. Public intoxication saw a particularly sharp decline, from 41 to 26 reports (-37%). Bicycle thefts also decreased from 28 to 19, and the number of violent incidents halved.
The police continue to focus on increased surveillance and visibility. Yesterday morning, a visible police operation took place as part of a Python action, during which travelers were checked for drug possession. Nuisance is being tackled decisively with administrative measures.
The mayor of Roeselare has issued 39 exclusion orders in the past six months to individuals causing serious nuisance, particularly in the station area. This is more than triple the 11 exclusion orders issued during the previous winter period. These measures, along with bans on assembly and targeted police actions, contribute to a safer station environment.
The figures will be explained to the special committee. The approach by the City of Roeselare, led by Mayor Kris Declercq, demonstrates that increased effort and decisive action are effective in reducing crime and nuisance.
