Oostende is participating in the Digital Week, running until October 16th, with the central theme 'Safe Online'. The city is organizing activities to inform citizens about cybercrime and online protection.

From October 16th to October 16th, Flanders and Brussels are dedicated to the Digital Week. In Oostende too, digital doors are opening with the central theme ‘Safe Online’.
Cybercriminals are constantly finding new ways to defraud citizens and sometimes steal large sums of money. It is therefore important to be vigilant and protect your data well online. The city aims to empower Oostende residents in the digital world in an accessible and practical way, so they can be online with more confidence and safety.
Fabrice Goffin, Alderman for Digitalization, emphasizes the importance of these initiatives: ‘Those who know what to look out for can be online with much more confidence and safety.’
During the Digital Week, various activities are organized, such as information sessions and scavenger hunts. In the library, you can go on a ‘hunt for the phisher’ to playfully learn how to recognize suspicious messages and phishing.
On October 15th, OC De Ballon will host a cyber café where Oostende Police will be available to answer all your questions about online security.
