MIROM Menen's summer magazine featured a sorting quiz that attracted many participants. The results reveal both impressive scores and areas where improvement is needed.
A broken Pyrex baking dish is correctly brought to the recycling center for non-recyclable waste by a remarkable 96 percent of participants. Other items also saw high correct response rates.
Over 80 percent of participants correctly identified that a battery-operated toy (without batteries) belongs in the Elektro category at the recycling center, with batteries collected separately. The free app for the collection calendar is named the Recycle! App, and no one mistakenly chose the Vuilkar App. A meat tray is permitted in the PMD bag, unlike styrofoam which should go to the recycling center. Potato peels and other food scraps are no longer allowed in the residual waste bag and should be placed in the GFT bin or given to chickens.
However, there is room for improvement, particularly with the sorting of an inflatable plastic swimming pool. This item should correctly be placed in the residual waste bag or with Combustible Bulky Waste at the recycling center.
The most common mistake concerns the collection of residual waste in green bags. Starting from January 1, 2027, collection will occur every two weeks, contrary to the belief of one-third of participants that it would remain weekly. MIROM Menen aims to further promote the importance of proper sorting and highlights that the GFT container will continue to be collected weekly from May to September, offering good preparation for the upcoming changes.
