During a festive closing event, the enthusiasm, dedication, and newly acquired technical skills of the 25 children were highlighted. The Junior Technology Academy targets children aged 8 to 10 who enjoy discovering, experimenting, and building. Throughout the past series of sessions, participants were playfully and interactively introduced to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), learning to design, research, and solve problems.
The 25 graduates were guided throughout the entire series by two committed volunteers from VIVES, who enthusiastically shared their knowledge and passion for technology with the young participants.
“"With the Technology Academy, we give children the opportunity to discover their talents at a young age. By experimenting and getting hands-on, they develop not only technical skills but also creativity, collaboration, and self-confidence. It's wonderful to see the enthusiasm these young people show."
Alderman for Education Tom Vlaeminck emphasizes the importance of this initiative. The diploma ceremony marks the end of an engaging and educational session. Stad Menen will organize another Teen Technology Academy in the spring of 2027 for students in the 5th and 6th grade (ages 10 to 12). This series runs from March 17 to May 12, 2027.
Registration for the Teen Technology Academy will open in mid-January 2027 via the VIVES website.
