The campaign highlights that a warm home, sufficient income, good healthcare, and the opportunity to participate in society are not extras but fundamental rights for everyone. However, many individuals face barriers that hinder their access to these basic rights.
To address and lower these barriers, Ieper is bringing together various organizations for the campaign. A joint breakfast will provide an opportunity to meet, exchange experiences, and collectively consider how to strengthen access to fundamental rights. This breakfast is offered free of charge thanks to sponsorship.
On the same day, the annual market action will take place under the Nieuwerck. In collaboration with CAW, the city aims to bring the issue of poverty closer to Ieper's residents and draw attention to those living in poverty. Visitors can enjoy a free cup of soup, while Te Goare will sell cookies and jam to support their operations, accompanied by musical performances from their choir.
The city emphasizes that a roof over one's head, adequate income, healthcare, education, and the ability to fully participate in society are basic rights. Through the market action on October 17th, the goal is to raise awareness about poverty and demonstrate that no one should be left behind.
