One of our external software suppliers, Vanden Broele, was affected by a security incident. This company offers, among other things, software for digitally signing documents.
At this time, there are no indications that data from residents of Ichtegem has been leaked. The municipality is closely monitoring the situation.
As a precaution, the municipality is asking its residents to be extra vigilant for suspicious emails, text messages, phone calls, and payment requests.
Residents are advised not to click on links in unexpected messages without reason, never to disclose passwords, personal data, or security codes, and to carefully check unexpected payment requests. Extra alertness is required for messages purportedly from the local administration.
If in doubt about the authenticity of a message, residents can contact the local administration directly via privacy@ichtegem.be.
